Today’s post is all about Royal Academicians’ and their studios, as all of these artists which I am showing you are highly known with their field for showcasing art of the highest quality. Showcasing Ken Howard, Michael Craig Martin and Grayson Perry, whose work I all enjoy immensely. I will be showing a variety of their own work, if your not familiar with them, and of their studio. So lets get started with Ken Howard.
Ken Howard
This is quite a unique studio to show you, as there not many photograph’s of Ken’s studio, but as he has produced a lot of paintings from his studio, I thought it was the perfect studio to show you, just in painting form! His space is full with light, with large windows that reveal a large creative space, which is perfect for creating visually eye watering paintings. It’s a unique space which sums up what every artist wants to own – a brightly, creative and influential room. Like his paintings, his studio are clean, organised and is definitely Ken Howard. A great space.
Martin Craig-Martin
When I first saw Martin’s space, the first thing that hit me was how the studio reflects his personality. Very clean, ordered and modern. Pretty much sums Martin up! His neatly arranged long table is the perfect space for him to make his large and dramatic work. You can see his paints which he uses on the table, looks like hundreds just in that shot! The space gives off a sense of calmness, and reflects that of a highly sleek and well designed studio. His work is shown below for you to feast your eyes on, especially if your not familiar with Martin’s work.
Grayson Perry
A unique character within the art and design movement, Perry’s studio is full of paintings, sculptures and pottery. Like Ken Howard’s studio, his studio is the pinnacle of an artists studio, which has ‘things’ everywhere. A studio should be a place where you feel comfortable with, and that’s why we see the artists personality in these studios, its a personal space. I really enjoy his wall of imagery which he uses for reference and inspiration. His work is timeless and is very unique, including his excellently crafted tapestries which are just golden. He’s showed some of those at The Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition in London, wish I could of gone!
