Following on from yesterday’s blog post, which gave you the news of our brand new t-shirt design by Kat Maycock, which is the first t-shirt that has made it through our voting platform, we wanted to also produce a Featured Artist post, dedicated to Kat Maycock and her illustrations, so you can look deeper into her illustrations and her as an artist.
Our ethos at Graphic Tide is to showcase these artists and designers which make it through our voting platform, by getting their name out there for the world to see, which is why I’m going to talking about Kat Maycock’s illustration work, including that of our new ‘KM DESIGN’ t-shirt design within our store. So let’s begin by getting to know Kat a bit more.
Who Is Kat?
Kat is currently studying Illustration and Animation (BA Hons) at Loughborough University. Going under the name of ‘KM DESIGNS’, she is active on all social media platforms, including that of her Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr page, which showcases some great drawings, photographs and designs.
Kat’s Illustration Work
Kat has a unique and personal voice within the world of illustration, and shows her captivating drawing abilities, within her sketchbook uploads to Tumblr, and that of our new stylish t-shirt design on Graphic Tide.
Taking the examples of her work from her Tumblr page, she is particularly interested in figurative and portrait drawings, which she captures excellently within the use of the trusted pencil. Her designs often consist of simple and eye catching drawings, which is very impressionistic and fresh.
A drawing I especially like from her sketchbook collection is Miley Cyrus, which is communicated with a few solid lines, which work really well as an overall piece of drawing.
