I’ve been really looking forward to producing this Featured Artist blog post, as I just had to do a post about this illustrator, painter and artist, whose work I really enjoy, just for his mind blowing painting and drawing skills, which are just out of this world. He’s an exciting artist who keeps getting better and better, who a lot of people look up to in the art and design industry, but who am I talking about?
You’ve most probably already the title, but I’m going to be talking about the work of James Jean in today’s featured artist blog post.
If you haven’t stumbled across James’ work before, you’re in for a treat. I’ve selected some of James best work for you to feast your eyes on, and I hope you like it if you’re new to James’ work. I’ve been a big fan of James’ work for a long while now, and he is a really popular artist, and his work is a pure example of why he is. As I am also a painter, I really appreciate the skill and hard dedication which James has put into his work, and you can see his evolution as an artist on his website, which shows his work from 1999, a big transformation!
I would say that James is more of an fine artist than illustrator, who commissions for galleries and exhibitions. His paintings are filled with detail, fascination, and weird and wonderful creatures that transports us into another dimension. He has over 10 books out, which you can buy most from Amazon, which shows his incredible drawings and paintings in one book, a great investment if you ask me. His books include ‘XOXO’, ‘Rebus’ and a new publication, ‘Parallel Lives’. I’ve flicked through a few pages of ‘Kindling’, and really want to get it, maybe because I’m a massive fan of James. If you have thirty minutes to spend, I suggest that you go to James’ Sketch link on his website, and become fascinated by James’ drawing skills and moleskin sketchbooks.
All the images are sourced back to James’ portfolio website, so you can spend another hour looking through all of his work, and get dragged into another world! I hope you enjoy this Featured Artist blog post about the incredible work of James Jean.
