You’ve wondered, right?

What its like to have a business card which is professional, captivating, and drives new clients and commissions towards your product’s and service’s.

You may be a freelancer, entrepreneur, or small business owner, but for you to save money in the long run, you need some essential tools to help you create a captivating, unique and personal business card.

For you to gain new eyes on your work, and when building relations in person, it’s essential that you own a business card which is striking, well designed, and represents your brand in the best possible light.

I know what you may be thinking, I only have a small budget to spend on a high quality business card.

Well, Graphic Tide is here to showcase some crucial tools you’ll need to design your own business card. Instead of going to a Graphic Designer or online printers, invest some money in these tools, and you can use it time and time again, and I’m not just talking about business cards. These tools can also help you out with your blog posts, website banners, and make you a better designer as a result. So lets get cracking, I can’t wait to start!

Adobe Photoshop

This is a tool which can serve you time and time again, and is crucial for any person, within any industry. After practise, and looking through many various Youtube videos to help, you can create your own business card which looks visually stunning.

Photoshop also allows you to create a business card which is your own, and not some template which you downloaded from a business card website.

It’s yours, and its personal to you, which is the way it should be.

You may think that business card templates from companies aren’t bad, but are they you? Do you feel they represent you in the best possible light?

Adobe Photoshop is a tool which I use daily, as I can create business cards, edit my illustrations, produce blog post imagery, and save me a lot of money in the long haul. It may be a lot of money for a software product, but this is the best image editing software out there today, which I highly recommend.

Type Books

For you to master making your own business card, you’ll need to learn how to construct type in the correct way, which is so important within any business card, as it holds your important contact details.

Use These Tools To Create A Captivating Business Card

Much like Photoshop, if you learn how to construct type, it can serve you in many different ways. You can see what type works effectively and what doesn’t, and this can carry on throughout your general life. You can improve the type within your marketing material, advertising, website, the list is endless.

The two books which I recommend are ‘Just My Type’ by Simon Garfield, and ‘Thinking With Type’ by Ellen Lupton, which are truly excellent books if you want to learn more about type in general. They give you excellent analysis of when to use type in a certain way, and gives you a brief history of type.

I personally own both of these books, and have learnt a lot about type because of them.

Sketchbook & Pencils

Unfortunately, to make a great looking business card, you need to work a few hours until your perfectly happy with the result. You need to figure out what to put what where, where to place your imagery, and what type to use. This is something which cannot be produced or worked out on the computer, which is why I also recommend a good quality sketchbook and pencils.

They allow you to work out your compositions and see whats working with your current layouts. In contrast to working on a laptop, a sketchbook allows you to quickly work from one idea or layout to the next. A computer or laptop takes far too long to produce your ideas and layouts, as you can become too precious.

After you’ve created lots of different thumbnails of your business card layout, you can then simply copy this into Photoshop, and construct your business card from there.

The Absolute Bonus And Money Saver – The Printer

Outsourcing printing is such an expensive cost for every freelancer or business owner.

They often charge a lot for a large print run, which can easily be printed ourselves, if you’re willing to invest some money.

I would also suggest that you buy a printer if you know you’re going to be printing a few business cards, which you can then use at a later stage, for leaflets, advertising .etc.

The printer needs to be high quality however, as you don’t want to give out business cards which are printed on low quality paper, with low quality ink.

You want your business card to wow others, and make them sit up and take notice of you and your brand. So unfortunately, if you want to save money in the long run by buying a printer yourself, it needs to be high quality.

Make sure you’re choosing a printer which can print on thick card, which prints excellently.

Invest Now, To Save Money Later

We’re showcasing these products so you can make your own business card designs. I highly recommend all of these products, but only buy them if your’e 100% happy with your choice.

Adobe Photoshop and a high quality printer are expensive, but they can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Use these tools to create an eye catching business card, which wows potential clients towards your brand.
