Want some exclusive insight into one of our artists?
Our whole ethos at Graphic Tide is to support our artists and designers, and one thing that we love to do here is conduct ‘Featured Artist’ blog posts.
This is our chance to showcase our creative community, for them to show their personality, what makes them tick as creatives, which can give you a few creative ideas of your own.
We’re always looking to help and support our artists, and this is how you can be involved too.
In this blog post, we talk to Anya (‘Kostolom 3000‘), who’s doing excellently over on our voting platform, with her designs of ‘Flower Beard’, ‘Owl’ and ‘Ginger Cat’, which are all excellently designed.
If we had to capture her style in three sentences, it would be playful, unique and totally cute, which a lot of her fans and followers love.
Anya has built a portfolio of work which is not only eye catching, but full of wonderful colours, characters and drawings, that we can’t get enough of here at Graphic Tide.
We can’t wait to get into this Featured Artist blog post, let us know what you think of it in the comments section!
Hi Anya! Can You Tell Us A Bit About Yourself?
Hello everyone, Im Anya (kostolom3000) self taught illustrator from Russia, Yakutsk city.
I work in vector and raster graphics, and love to draw, doodle, produce watercolor paintings, and use pencil and pen as much as possible.
Most of all I love the theme of animals, food and nature. This results in me producing seamless patterns, which I really enjoy making.
What are your biggest influences or inspirations as a creative?
The world around us – it’s a very powerful machine for the production of inspiration.
Synthesizing several concepts, objects, and materials, you can get something completely new that you can then use in your art.
The main inspirer of all my creative process – which is our black cat ‘Misha’, he is very smart and funny.
I’m inspired by the styles of art in which I work, or that I would like to learn.
3. How have you made your voting designs? How do you construct your pieces of art?
“Owl”, this is one of my new prints from series about animals with ornaments and an abstract ambience.
I like all the particles and soft forms that surround them.
I tried to create a dynamic effect, which will ‘wow’ the audience.
4. Can you tell us about your creative process? How does your day shape up?
Most often, I will produce a pencil sketch in my notebook, then take a picture of this and upload it to my computer, where I finish add colour and extra elements to form the final illustration.
My day looks like this: I get up at 11 o’clock in the morning, drink a glass of water, get a coffee, oatmeal and reads the news on the social networks, and check my online art stores.
Then I either draw for microstock, work on a new print, or simply draw doodles on a pad.
5. What’s your favourite piece of art you’ve ever created?
I think it’s – “Coffee Cat”, firstly it is very similar to our cat ‘Misha’ (like many of my cat prints :)),
and secondly, he drinks coffee, and in the third – this is one of my earliest prints, which is still selling well.
6. What are you trying to learn right now? What’s that one skill you want to master?
Recently, I began to study working in the Mesh style to make a bit of volumetric objects,
here’s an example of what I have produced:
7. Tell us something which we might not know about you.
My parents are river transport workers. Every summer, since childhood I spent on the river.
We’ve swam, fished, and have helped my mom and dad to measure the river bottom to make navigable maps for ships.
It was the happiest time of my life.
